As you may remember from my earlier
post, Robert and Kevin are tearing down part of our wall to make a pantry. Last night they were taking down the last stud when all of the sudden there was a big BOOM. The stud, which was still attached at the top, slipped out of Robs hands and hit the ground. It wouldn't budge, leaving us to believe that the wall is in fact load bearing. We had 3 different contractors tell us it wasn't load bearing so we were very
surprised/scared. It was 11 pm when this all went down so we didn't know what to do. Luckily, we have awesome neighbors. We ran next door and they agreed to come over and take a look. They were able to get the stud to stand up straight again.
This morning Robert and Kevin put the new wall up and one of the contractors we met with last week is coming by this afternoon to check everything out. We are thinking that perhaps it is not a load bearing wall, it has just settled a bit, but I guess we will see this afternoon! I'll keep you updated!
Ps. Contractors, load bearing... I sound so old!
You think you are sounding old, I just mowed the yard wearing a golf shirt, shorts, black socks and prescription sunglasses.
