I waited all summer for this...?

My life the past two-ish weeks:

So, Aug. 10 (about 2 p.m.) I get an e-mail about a Part Time Web Producer position opening at KCEN HD News. I decide to apply. Thirty minutes later, the News Director callas me and has an initial phone interview. He then asks me to come in to the station for an official interview at 4 p.m. I go and chat with him for about 15 minutes. The next day, he offers me a job as a part time Web Producer.

Meanwhile, my friend Nikki calls and asks me if I want to look at apartments. Having just gotten a job, I decide that I will live with her and say "yes!" On Aug. 12, we look at apartments and find one we love. On Aug. 13 we move in.

Meanwhile, I had agreed to build a football program for a local Catholic high school. Friday, I was working with the head lady on the program and gathering all the materials I would need in order to complete it this weekend. She makes a joke about how she hopes I don't have a social life or a boyfriend since I'm gonna be spending my whole weekend on the program. I tell her no, I don't have a boyfriend and she says she will set me up. After asking for my criteria, she opens an old football program and points to one of the assistant coaches. He was pretty cute. I say yes, hook me up with that one. She said she'll introduce us at one of the games. I'm praying she wasn't just saying that because I would really like to talk to a boy... It's been awhile. (I use the word "talk" loosely).

Meanwhile, Aug. 16 I began training for my job. I trained that Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The next Monday was my first day on the job on my own. Late in the afternoon my boss calls me in to see if I've heard about the weekend News Producer position that is open. I say no, and he asks if I'd be interested. "Of course," I say. So, I shadow a night producer that Wednesday and resume work on Friday as usual. Today, he calls me in and HIRES ME FULL TIME!! I will be the weekend News Producer (working 1:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.) and then work 3 9-hour shifts during the week doing other random things. They are going to begin looking for my replacement for the Web Producer position. I will get a SALARY and BENEFITS!! WHAT?! I have never even taken a broadcasting class before... hahaha. Basically, I am writing everything the anchors say, in addition to some stories, organizing the line up of the show and making sure everyone stays within their allotted time. It's gonna be so cool!!!

Meanwhile, my car completely died. Engine fried. And I had to get a new one. But I found a car that is the exact same model (one year older) but with some extra features (moonroof and 6-disc changer), half the miles, they sold it to us for way cheap and it's blue! And now that I have my new job, I can start paying it off!!

Crazy how you spend 5 months trying to figure things out and they all fall together in a mere three weeks.

(Also, sorry I'm posting this on the blog and didn't call most of you about these epic events).

Random Reynolds

Here are some updates:

School: The title of this post refers to the new nickname my students have given me because I randomly break out into song. I'm teaching 2 blocks of Intro and 1 block of Pottery this quarter. All of my classes are pretty good. I have a freshmen homeroom. Freshmen are weird.

Volleyball: Volleyball is good. Varsity's first game is Friday, Reserves is next Tuesday. One of the girls on varsity had to get her appendix removed on Friday. She was telling us about it on Saturday and said that the doctor had to put a ballon up her butt to do some kind of test. After she told us this another volleyball player said, "I didn't know your appendix was in your butt hole?!"

House: I'm currently in the process of painting all of the trim white. It sucks a lot! I've got the guest room all done but am lacking the motivation to start the office. I have a feeling this is going to be a pretty long process.

Bodies: Yesterday Robert, my co-worker Stacey and I went to Omaha to see the Bodies Exhibit. It was pretty cool/creepy/interesting/scary/gross/thought provoking. There was one body set up to look like he was throwing a baseball. He was left handed but was stepping with his left foot. I feel like if you take a year to strip down a body for an exhibit like that you could take a few minutes to google "left handed pitcher" and make sure the form is right. At the end of the exhibit there was a gift shop. There was a lady working in the gift shop and was talking to a group of people. She asked them how many bones were in a woman's body. When they didn't know she said, "the same amount as a man's body." Robert looked at her and said (wearing shorts), "how many bones are in my body?" The lady looked at him, paused for a second and awkwardly said, "zero" then changed the subject. It was pretty funny.

Deal of the century!!: For a while now I've been stalking this duvet cover from Anthropology. It was originally over $300. I found it on ebay for $160. I almost bought it on Friday night but decided to wait because there was still a few days left before the bidding was over. Yesterday after Bodies we went shopping a bit and decided to stop by Anthropology. In the clearance bin I found the exact duvet cover I had been stalking in the exact size that I needed!!!! And the best part..... it was only $69.99!!! I'm so excited!!!!

Shooting: About 10 minutes after we left the mall there was a shooting there. I guess a shoplifter ran over a cop in the parking lot and then the shoplifter got shot or something like that. Kinda crazy!

Wedding: Only 104 days until the wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summer in One Post

So since I suck at giving timely posts, I am giving you my whole summer post at one time. I will do bullet points and expand on exciting things.
  • I finished my semester and I have good enough grades to go back. The bad thing is my English teacher refused to move my 89.4% to an A. I was so mad at her. She will get an evil eye if I see her on campus this semester.
  • I was an intern at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Wichita. I had a great time. It was very similar to my volunteer work with them in High School, but I had more say in what happened. I really enjoy helping with youth groups, I may try to find one to help out with in Manhattan.
  • I turned 20, which means nothing. It wasn't too depressing.
  • I threw an InDIPendence day party for the 4th of July. People brought different types of dip. Dip parties rock. Everyone loved it.
  • I went to camp for a week. It was AWESOME, literally it was called Camp Awesome. It actually turned out awesome. Plus my awesome team won Camp Champs. Which means over 4 years I have gotten 2nd place 3 years and 1st place one year. A pretty good average in my opinion.
  • I went to Branson. Branson is weird. I visited Brad, my best friend that I met at K-State. He worked at Kanakuk. Kanakuk isn't weird. It is in Branson, which makes it a little sketch.
  • My friends and I jumped on a trampoline for 24 hours. It was awesome. One person was jumping at all times for 24 hours. We randomly had the idea and decided to run with it. The only negative was the 110 degree heat. It was pretty bad. One of the biggest accomplishments of my life though. I even got a t-shirt!!!
Lastly, I went to Manhattan to work on my room. We had to renovate our house to meet fire code. Our first floor rooms used to be double level rooms but they didn't meet fire code, so we had to make them look good for being so small. I have picture of the before and after. SEE BELOW.

Pantry love

Our Easter weekend project is finally done! It only took 3 months longer than what we expected, but the results are awesome! My favorite house project so far!

Here it is before, it was basically a bedroom closet in the middle of the kitchen--

After tearing down half of it. You may remember my post about our scary moment when we moved the last stud--

Here it is dry walled--

ALL DONE!!!--

We can fit so much stuff in it! I still have plenty of room in the pantry and all of my lower cabinets are empty. Bring on the wedding presents!!---
