Like sister, like sister, like sister
I got a cat.
Kind of.
Mallory, my new roommate, is in my sorority. Well, one of our sorority sisters had gotten a cat about six years ago. However, she is moving home with her parents, and they won't let her bring the cat. So, she sought out people to take the cat for her.
We took it.
Technically, I will say the cat is Mallory's. But secretly, I think the cat likes me best, as he sleeps on my bed every night. But I will also admit this is because I have a soft blanket on the foot of my bed that he's obsessed with.
I say "he," but we have a hard time believing the cat is a boy--and we've tried checking. But it should be said that the cat is VERY fat. His name is Cleo (right??), but we think we're renaming him Guido--because he's a big juicehead and spends the whole night going from my room to Mallory's and back again, the manwhore.
I'd post pictures, but I don't have any yet. Don't worry, I'll get some soon. His cutest quality is that he insists upon laying on your neck and putting his face very much in your face. It's kind of cute.
I kind of love cats.

Day 5 with our adopted family living in the basement
Last night I decided to take the two kids to DQ on my own. First let me point out there is a lot you forget about children after your own kids have grown. Second, I should point out that I have absolutely no concern about spoiling these two kids, and won't even come close to disciplining them.
We get to DQ and the 4 year old sees someone with a dipped cone. I know she shouldn't have a dipped cone. She knew she shouldn't have a dipped cone. But I think she figured out quickly I wasn't going to say no, so she got a cherry dipped cone. I got her 2 year old brother a small dish of ice cream.
When I returned to the table with the dipped cone and small dish of ice cream, the 2 year old pointed at the cone and grunted "tha tha tha" which I think meant he wanted one too. He then proceeded to turn around, put his head on the bench and started to cry. So given the two points made above, I quickly went to the counter and ordered a second dipped cone.
When I returned to the table with the cone, the 2 year old pointed at it and screamed "NOOOOOOOO". I looked at the 4 year old (she translates for me) and she informed me she had given him a taste while I was away and he doesn't like it. So I had a blizzard and dipped cone while the 2 year old ate his dish of ice cream and the 4 year old ate her cone.
It was fun. Don't ever send your kids to me for discipline.

Quotey English teacher Chair
I was asked to paint a chair for an English teacher who is retiring this year. I am pretty excited becuase it's the first time I'm getting paid for my work!! The teacher I'm painting it for is really great and LOVES art so I'm super excited for her to see it. I won't be able to see her get the chair because my beautiful, talented and smart sister is graduating in Texas on the same day as her party but I would much rather be hanging out with the fam.
The english teachers gave me a bunch of quotes to put on it and said they wanted it to be bright and colorful and have a sun on the seat. So here it is! I'm pretty pleased with the outcome.
PS. Jessica- I put a spelling mistake in this post to cheer you up. Can you find it?

Robert's manly work
7 days of school left!!
Robert and his dad did some work around the house yesterday. The dishwasher we installed back in February has been free standing. So they bought some wood and boxed it in to make it part of the cabinets and countertop. Eventually, when we re-do the kitchen, we will paint the cabinets and get a new countertop so it will all match. Here are the before and after pictures:

I'm Famous
I am kind of a big deal...people know me...
So I was told the other day that I was on ESPN.com and I checked it out. Turns out that I am in a picture for one of the main stories. I thought I would share the glory with my family. You will notice me in the second row, left side. My roommate from last semester, Matt, is next to me. Funny thing is my pledge father, Hazen, is two rows directly above me. We didn't know each other at the time, but we are now becoming the best of friends. Here is the link to the page:
All is well at Kansas State. I am enjoying "dead week" although it has been quite alive. See you all soon hopefully!

Kids move out and friends move in...
In case you haven't heard, we will have a young couple and their two kids living in our basement for four weeks starting in the middle of May. Not that we don't love our kids, but the house will be a little full during that time so please call ahead if you plan on visiting.
